Businessmen
This album, which includes the first formal recordings ever by the band, was conceived years earlier through the friendship of Bill Hibbert and John Vento. Hibbert, a composer never lacking for musical inspiration, provided the building blocks for the venture. Vento brought his trademark “can do” entrepreneurial spirit to the project, as executive producer.
The album was recorded and engineered at Pittsburgh’s Klondike Inn Studio, by old pal Phil Isaly.
Tim Hadley, highly respected Pittsburgh musician, produced the disc. Hadley worked for months on arrangements and sounds until he concocted a blended mix to his satisfaction. To this day Hadley often states that his work on the first Businessmen CD was his proudest accomplishment in his long and successful career.
The line up for the band’s self hitter release was John Vento (lead vocal), Bill Hibbert (acoustic guitar/vocals), Tim Hadley (lead guitar/keyboards), John Collins (bass/vocals), and Ken Joy (drums). Old friend, saxophonist, Dave Shutts rounds out the performances with a cameo appearance.
For all the guys, this was a dream come true. For Bill Hibbert, the recordings confirmed his status as a top-notch writer.
